Dear Parents/Guardians:

Now that winter is here, I would like to remind you of important information regarding potential school closings. Though District #11 makes every effort to keep our schools open and operational, circumstances beyond our control sometimes dictate school closings.

Here are some reminders for you to consider:
1. If school should be closed tomorrow for inclement weather or an
emergency, who would care for and supervise my child(ren)?

2. If school was to close early today (due to broken water pipes,
power failure, heating problems, accumulating snowfall, etc.),
who would be able to take care of my child(ren) for the remainder
    of the day?

3. Is my contact information up-to-date? This would include email and
phone numbers. If you are not sure, check your PowerSchool
account or check with the school office. This is the information
we will use to contact you, so please make sure it is current.

In addition, please utilize this handy reference for emergency school closings and information.

Emergency School Closing Sources of Information

• Email: All District #11 parents/guardians who have provided their child’s
school with an email address will be sent an email when school is closed.

• Phone: Each student’s primary phone number will be called using our
  rapid phone notification system.

• District #11 website:

• Facebook:

• Twitter:

Every effort will be made to have all of these information sources updated by 6:00 a.m. in the event of a snow emergency day.
