Dear Medinah Primary and Intermediate School Families,

The students and staff have been very busy for the past month and have many exciting learning opportunities to look forward to.

During the past three weeks, the students at MPS and MIS have been taking their Reading and Math Map tests. We are all very proud of them for trying their best and working hard to achieve their goals they have set for themselves. Teachers are excited to be reviewing these results with you at conferences.

Throughout the next few months, the staff and students at Medinah Intermediate School will be focused on preparing for the upcoming Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) Assessment for grades 3-12, which will take place in April. The teachers and students have and will continue to focus on their learning goals, as well as practice Reading and Math sample test questions.  PARCC states have partnered with GreatSchools to launch the GreatKids Test Guide for Parents, a new resource to assist parents in helping their children prepare academically for college and careers, and for the next grade level. The guide can be found at, a website dedicated to helping parents better understand their children’s scores, and also on the PARCC website

We are looking forward to all of our families attending Parent-Teacher Conferences coming up on Thursday, February 15 and  Friday, February 16. We are excited to see the students attend the conferences to continue to work as a team towards a successful 2017-18 school year! Just a reminder that kindergarten conferences are for parents only.

Our students in first, third and fifth grade will be participating in our CAP (Child Assault Prevention) Program the beginning of February. This is one way our district continues to provide programming that focuses on our students’ safety and well-being. In addition to the CAP program, we encourage our families to revisit the Family Handbook we sent home at the beginning of the year with your child to review the rules and expectations at MPS and MIS to ensure they are continuing to be safe and making those positive choices on a daily basis.

Thanks to all the dads who came out to our Watch D.O.G.S launch event Thursday night! We are so excited to start this program. If you did not have a chance to sign up at the event, please check the Medinah Website.  The sign up for volunteer times will go live January 31st at 10:00 am.

Just a reminder that Medinah Primary School will be having Kindergarten Registration on March 8th from 9am-11am, 2:00-3:00 pm and 6:00 pm-7:30 pm. Please spread the word to your Medinah friends!

We are looking forward to the month of February. As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
